| | My choice would be for a gangline composed of different units. 1 for the wheel dogs, 1 for the swing dogs and 1 for the leader. My dogs harnesses are adjusted to a length of 90 cm. I do all the assembling by simple splicing on each extremity of the cords and I use 3 diameters of cord different :
- Gangline 9.5 m/m - Tug line 6.3 m/m - Neck line 4.7 m/m.
For tastes and colours, if I mix all the colours when I make a gang line for a big team (more than 10 dogs) it’s to be able to, during a nasty mix up or a fight, find "what is whose"... to whom belongs the paw stuck in whose cord ? That is why I make the gangline starting with a red module then a blue, then a red etc…etc… The central lines are blue/white or red/white, the tug lines are always a "pure", blue colour if the central line is blue/white, red if the central line is red/white, the neck lines are always pure yellow. Thus I can "find my little ‘uns " a lot easier when a problem occurs. |
For the next part of fabrication we will procede as for a recipe …but without the garlic cloves :
For A 5 dog adjustable line you need:
Wheel : - Gangline 1 x 3.40 M Cord Ĝ 9.5 m/m red & white - Tug lines 2 x 2.00 M Cord Ĝ 6.3 m/m red - Neck lines 2 x 0.60 M Cord Ĝ 6.3 m/m yellow - Cord Ĝ 2 m/m 1 x 0.20 M - 2 x Snaps 80 m/m ( back ) - 2 x Snaps 68 m/m ( neck )
Point : - Gangline 1 x 3.00 M Cord Ĝ 9.5 m/m Blue & white - Tug lines 2 x 1.60 M Cord Ĝ 6.3 m/m blue - Neck lines 2 x 0.60 M Cord Ĝ 6.3 m/m yellow - Cord Ĝ 2 m/m 1 x 0.20 M - 2 x Snaps 80 m/m (back) - 2 x Snaps 68 m/m (neck)
Leader : - 1 x 1.60 M Cord Ĝ 6.3 m/m Blue - 1 x Snap 80 m/m (back)
Montage :
- Ganglines Wheel and Point : Make a simple loop 38 / 12 at each end - Tug lines Wheel and Point : Make a simple loop 25 / 9 at each end - Neck lines Wheel and Point : Make a simple loop 18 / 7 at each end - Leader line : Make a simple loop 25 / 9 at each end
Assembly in order : - Tug lines on ganglines for Wheel and Point - Neck lines on ganglines for Wheel and Point - Wheel line on point line - Leader line on point line - Mounting of the snaps - Cord loop on Wheel and Point
- Roll up, then put away your gangline
It’s finished !
There, nothing to add for the moment. I chose the assembly, of the splicing and the simple loops to make this 5 dog gangline. The reason is because one should always use the simplest when working with dogs, in case of incident, the more the assembly is complicated to do the more you’ll lose time in seeing where the problem is coming from and in repairing it. |
